International Women’s Day and a Freebie

Happy International Women’s Day!!

I had the privilege of attending a celebratory lunch hosted by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Naveeda Ikram – Britain’s first female Muslim Lord Mayor.

The event was also the presentation of the awards for Bradford Women of the Year 2012 and the Kirkgate Shopping Centre Bradford where I work sponsored the Woman of Courage Award.

The winner was the wonderful Maralyn Adey who campaigns tirelessly for disability rights.  Her son Kristian and husband Alvin were there to see her pick up her award and they were both glowing with pride.

we are so proud of you Maralyn

and the winner is

with the Lord Mayor

As you can see from the pictures it was a wonderfully happy occasion with everyone there to celebrate the amazing women who had won the awards.

Sadly I left my programme at work so I don’t have the list in front of me of everything that Maralyn is doing in her work for disability issues – although I do have the details for her new Charity Venture Learning Disability Hospital Support .  She is on a mission right now to raise the £5000 necessary to register with the Charity’s Commission – thats the amount that the Charity needs in its bank account before the Commission will even consider the application!  So if you can donate or know of anyone who could sponsor the charity please do help – every penny counts!

Such a Happy Occasion

So Maralyn, this ones for you – Many Congratulations on a well deserved win!

A Grammar School Boy Part 2

This week has been a good week for our family

March 1st is National Schools Allocation Day when all the secondary school places are communicated to parents here in the UK.  Long time readers of my blog will know that hubby tutored our son for the entrance exam in December and we were informed in January that he’d done really well and was guaranteed a place at one of the Grammar schools.

Well, for us the waiting and hoping and praying is over.  Our son has been offered a place at his first choice of school which is the Crossley Heath Grammar School.

The Crossley Heath Grammar School

We are delighted and so is Nathan

Just need to start saving up now for his new uniform and the school trip in September!

I’ve been really busy designing kits for you this week.  More of them in my next post though

I know you are dying to see which quickpage I’ve chosen for you this week, well here it is, Rose Love by Ann.
