So, It’s a little while since I last blogged, mainly as I’ve been busy making Facebook Timelines for charity.
And then I ‘ve been making new friends and reading their blogs and trying, in a small way, to make a difference in the lives of some seriously needy children.
Let me tell you a little more….my friend Katrina Morriss is adopting a little girl from Eastern Europe – you can read about it on her blog Operation Orphan No More
Her Facebook page also contains regular updates too – why not hop over and ‘like’ it?
Sadly the adoption is stalled due to problems in the host country but I offered to make timeline headers in return for a $10 donation to Katrina’s fundraising effort – you would not believe how these adoption expenses run away for a family – I believe the average cost to adopt a child from abroad runs at $25,000. By the way, if you want me to make a Timeline Header for you in return for a minimum $10 donation to Katrina’s fundraiser please message me or leave a comment on this post.
Reading Katrina’s blog led me to numerous other families who have opened their hearts to children and are working to bring them home to their forever families – all wonderful generous people making a real difference to not only their own family lives and those of their adopted children, but to everyone their stories touch including me.
One of those families is the Unroe family who are currently working to bring 5, yes 5, children into their family.
Little Keith is in a truly desperate situation in the notorious Plevin orphanage in Bulgaria – left in a cot on his own, often with only 1 diaper change a day – weekends are the worst time. This poor mite may not even be fed today. It breaks my heart to know that today, his birthday, is no different from any other day. No cake, no candles to blow out or birthday wishes. No hugs and kisses. This baby needs to be home with his new forever family soon. Please do what you can – donate, pray, share, advocate – all of these things help
Today is Ahnja’s birthday too. She is 10 today – that’s 10 long years with no family to love her and keep her safe. Her situation in the orphanage is somewhat better than Keith’s but she should still be with her family having fun on her birthday instead of waiting, waiting, waiting for Mommy and Daddy – she knows they are coming for her but doesn’t understand why it all has to take so long
Her new family call her ‘Interactive Aleshia’! Please pray that she will be with them soon, hugging, kissing, hearing bedtime stories and whispered ‘I love you’s
Click on Anita’s picture and it will take you to the Unroe family blog with some wonderful pictures and video’s of when they got to visit with her. Just imagine how much this sweet girl will blossom in the heart of her new family?
And number 5 is Nicholas
Nicholas needs to be running around and playing with his brothers and sisters – he too is not in a good situation at the orphanage and needs your prayers. His new Mommy and Daddy worry so much for him while he too is waiting.
These children have a loving family waiting for them. Keith is in desperate medical need. And while I type this and you pray for these children the paperwork to bring them home is ‘lost’ on someones desk. Please pray that the blockage is removed and the process can be speeded up.
So, now you’ve met the children what can you do to help? The first thing is pray, for the children to be safe, for the Unroe family who are anxiously waiting to bring them home and for the government agencies in both countries that the beaurocratic process is speeded up.
Next, advocate for them – share this on your twitter feed, your blog, your Facebook page – tell everyone you can about their situation and get them to share it too.
Donate – this is the one where a little can make a big difference. The family are fundraising to buy the air tickets to fly their angels home – yes, wings would be cheaper but sadly thats not going to happen.
You will see in my sidebar there is a chip in where you can donate direct to their fundraiser. If you want you can snag the chip in and add it to your blog too.
Or you could bid for one of the items in the Hidden Treasures Auction. The auction starts today and runs for a week. There are 35 wonderful items that you can bid on including an iPad. All have been donated by and many have been handmade with love. Click on the link or the picture in my sidebar to go straight to the auction
I’ve donated a custom set of 4 Facebook Timelines – you provide me with your pictures and I provide you with 4 unique and personal timeline headers
Here are some examples of how they might look – yours will be 100% unique to you and made with unique elements from amongst my CatDesignz kits. 4 Timeline would normally sell for $40 but don’t let that stop you from bidding more!!
The auction to fundraise starts today, April 1st which is little Keith and Ahnja’s birthdays. – hopefully it will help raise some dollars to contribute to the cost of the air fare home for the children. Let’s make this the last birthday that they spend without their forever family
Now, I know some of you are simply here for the freebie, that’s ok too as I haven’t given one away in a while
I know that all her children would pick her – please keep Amanda and her amazing family in your prayers and if you can find it in your heart to donate to them in lieu of the freebie I’d really appreciate it.
I’m leaving it free longer than usual for the duration of the Hidden Treasures Auction
Please do share this by email, Twitter, blog, Facebook and any other means you have
God Bless and Happy Scrapping
