Child of my Heart Adoption Kit and a Freebie

Afraid I have been awol for longer than usual – mainly been waiting to get my newest kits in store and linking through for you but there are some hiccoughs still at My Memories following a massive server outage at their ISP.

So, for once, my kits are in my Etsy Store and the links will take you through to there.

Many of you will know I’ve been busy advocating for the Pleven orphans in Bulgaria.  My friend Amanda Unroe, wonderful lady and uber Mom is adopting 5 children from Eastern Europe and has been fundraising to cover the costs of bringing them home

.

I decided to pitch in and help her and the result was Child of My Heart which is sort of an adoption kit but not exclusively….the wordarts are adoption focused but everything else could be used for everyday or family layouts.  The kit is on sale in my Etsy store with the whole $6.99 purchase price going straight to the Pleven Orphans Nurses fund, every cent so please do pitch in and buy a copy. Its 125 gorgeous elements including 20 papers and over 30 wordarts.

You can read more about the atrocities perpetrated on innocent children at Pleven in this blog, there is also a chip in button that you can use to make a direct donation to the nurses fund if you wish

Detail

So you will be wanting to see some sample pages and I have some particularly special ones to show you.

Keith, the littlest Unroe, aged 5

Nicholas

Nicholas, aged 9

Anita aged 6

Ahnja aged 10

Aleshia aged 6

These are the pics I did especially for Amandas blog.  The children are all the adoptees that the Unroe family are in the process of bringing home to their forever family. I used the kit for all these layouts as I wanted them to match the look of the whole blog.  As the adoption process progresses the blog will get many thousands of hits so it needs to be looking its best while people are hungry for information on the newest Unroe’s! I so enjoyed working with these pictures.

Can you believe that the Unroe’s are adopting 5 little ones, all with special needs and one in particular, little Keith who has urgent medical needs due to systematic neglect and starvation during his time in Pleven.  He is 5 years old and weighs a tiny 14lb – yes, thats right, you didn’t read it wrong and I didn’t type it wrong….

Please pray that the adoption progresses a pace – these children need a loving family to nurture them and allow them to realise their full potential and become the people they were always meant to be.

I wanted to show you the add on kit which is also be in my Etsy store – 5 simple Family Stacked Papers to stretch your kit even further.

Oh, and I have a few more word arts up my sleeve too but thats for another day.

So, yet again I saved the freebie for last.  Its one of those catch it while you can freebies – here today and gone tomorrow so I hope you are reading this while its still free!

Its my Creme de la Creme Pastels Kit – hope you like it – please leave me some love if you do!

I chose this kit because its the one that my Creative Team Member Celeste Lombas used to sprinkle a little magic on Amanda Unroe’s family blog.  I think you’ll agree she did a great job.  Celeste also kindly freshened Amanda’s adoption blog with Child of My Heart – doesn’t it look wonderful?

So, for 48 hours only you can snag it for free.  After that you can buy it in store at My Memories

Before I go could I please ask you for 2 things?  Firstly to share this blog on FB and twitter and link into it from your own blog?  We need to get the word out about these children so that new families can be found to care for, nurture and love them.   And secondly if you can find it in your heart to make a donation to the Peven Orphans Nurses fund?  You will find the chip in on this blog post

Thank you so much

And to make you smile another peek at the kit and sample layouts including the  lovely ones made by my CT

Happy scrapping

Granny’s Quilt

Now my Grandma didn’t have a creative bone in her body.  We would spend hours talking and playing cards but I don’t have a single memory of doing anything vaguely creative with her.

My Nana on the other hand was  a very crafty lady,  She knitted and crocheted – her hands were always busy even when they were crippled with arthritis.

I still treasure the blankets she made so lovingly for me.

In my minds eye Grandma did quilt though.  She stitched and sewed the pieces of her life into a real treasure stretched out before me.

But, bless them both, I think my creative genes have come the Riley route rather than the Whitehead one.

So, my dear departed grandmothers, Grandma Ellen Whitehead and Nana Emily Riley, this ones for you
  – my Granny’s quilt series of templates which you can find over at My Memories

And the colour?  Why, Pink, to make the boys wink as Grandma always used to say!

Thats for starters anyway, there are plenty more colourways to suit everyone coming soon to a store near you.

And the lovely lady in the picture, is not my gran but my Dad’s sister Margaret.

Seeing this picture again has put me in mind of pictures of the siblings as children in the 1930’s, but thats for another day!

Have fun whatever you are doing this weekend and don’t forget to check out yesterdays post for the My Memories scrapbooking Software givaway
